Rambler Socket

Rambler Socket is an electrical extension cord that recoils into a cavity in the wall.

There are some tasks – such as vacuuming, ironing, and hair drying – for which the electrical cords built in to appliances don’t seem long enough. As these appliances are not used constantly, it doesn’t make sense to lay extension cords around the house, which could easily be tripped on. Rambler Socket unfurls around 1.5 metres of cord from a cavity behind its socket, so it can be easily pulled out when needed, and coiled back when no longer required. Rambler Socket is released by pressing the buttons on either side of the socket. This separates the holder tongues from the main body. The cord is recoiled by giving it a little tug. This activates a spring mechanism that drags the cord back into the socket cavity. The socket can then be fitted neatly back into the wall.
